Silent Thunder Martial Arts was started about 7 years ago by Willy Marshall Jr. and Willy Marshal Sr. in a small 2 bedroom apartment in east NY Brooklyn. It was sensei's Willy Marshall's dream to have his own school, so he designed a flyer and started posting them around the neighborhood. Both Sensei's had been training in the martial arts for 11 years. We had about 14 students at the time, and at the time, we used to take all of the furniture out of the living room to teach class. After about two years we decided it was time to open a bigger school, so we started looking for office space. We found a spot in Coney Island, we signed the lease and worked day and night to get the place ready. We had mirrors installed, locker rooms and office built. Mats were placed on the floor, place was polished and two weeks later we were open. We were teaching 5 days a week. We kept the school in East NY open for another year until the house was sold by the landlord. We lost all students, because it was too far for them to travel to the new school. It was hard to leave them. For a teacher in the martial arts, every dedicated student becomes like family and the school becomes one big family. For over 4 years now we have been teaching Tae Kwon Do, Karate, GoJu, Jiu Jutsu, and kickboxing. Our goal is to teach every one of our students the skills to be the best martial artist and the best person he or she can be.
